Weddings at Hyatt Ziva & Zilara Cap Cana 2026 | Bliss
Weddings at Hyatt Ziva & Zilara Cap Cana: A Bliss Specialist's Honest Review
When couples ask me which Dominican Republic resorts I personally love planning destination weddings at, Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana are always at the top of the list. These two side-by-side resorts in the gated enclave of Cap Cana offer something genuinely difficult to find anywhere else in the Caribbean: the flexibility of a family-friendly resort and an adults-only resort literally steps apart, sharing some of the most spectacular wedding venues in the Dominican Republic, all on three miles of pristine Juanillo Beach.
I've toured the properties, walked every wedding venue, and helped couples host their big day here. Here is my complete, honest guide to what makes these resorts work so beautifully for destination weddings — and what every couple needs to know before they book.
"The rooftop terrace at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is one of the most spectacular wedding reception venues I've ever seen. I've yet to have a couple regret choosing it."
Understanding the Two Properties
Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana share a location, a beach, and many amenities — but they are two distinct resorts with different personalities. Understanding the difference is the first decision every couple needs to make.
- Welcomes children and families
- Water park on property
- Kids' club and family activities
- 375 oceanfront suites including swim-up
- Lively, energetic atmosphere
- Access to all shared amenities
- Best for: couples with family guests who have children
- Adults 18+ only
- More intimate and serene atmosphere
- 149 oceanfront suites
- Private adults-only pools and beach areas
- Quieter, more refined vibe
- Access to all shared amenities
- Best for: couples wanting a romantic adults-only feel
"Because the two resorts share amenities, your wedding guests can stay on either side. Adults who want the quieter Zilara experience can book there, while families with children stay at Ziva — and everyone comes together for your wedding. It's the most flexible guest accommodation setup I've seen at any resort."
Why Cap Cana Is Different from Punta Cana
Many couples assume Cap Cana and Punta Cana are interchangeable — they're not. Cap Cana is a gated luxury enclave about 15 minutes south of Punta Cana International Airport. The difference in feel is immediate: carefully planned, beautifully landscaped, noticeably quieter and more upscale than the hotel strip along the main Punta Cana corridor.
- 15 minutes from the airport. One of the shortest transfers of any Dominican resort — your guests arrive quickly and with minimal stress.
- Juanillo Beach. Three miles of pristine white sand with calm, crystal-clear Caribbean water. Consistently ranked among the finest beaches in the Dominican Republic.
- A gated, safe community. Cap Cana's controlled-access environment is genuinely appreciated by guests who are less experienced international travelers.
- World-class activities beyond the resort. Scape Park for zip-lining and cave swimming at Hoyo Azul, the Punta Espada Golf Club designed by Jack Nicklaus, Cap Cana Marina with waterfront dining, horseback riding on the beach, and sunset cruises — your guests have extraordinary things to do during the wedding week.
The Wedding Venues
This is where Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana genuinely shine. The combination of venues across the two properties gives couples more options than almost any other resort in the Dominican Republic — from intimate beachfront gazebos to grand beach ceremonies for 600 guests to a rooftop terrace that has become the most-requested reception venue on both properties.
Ceremony Venues
A beautiful beachfront gazebo on the Ziva side overlooking the Caribbean. One of the most popular ceremony venues — the combination of the gazebo structure, the white sand, and the turquoise water creates an extraordinary photograph. Romantic and intimate without feeling small.
The adults-only equivalent on the Zilara side — equally stunning, slightly more intimate. Swaying palms and breathtaking ocean views. Because it's on the Zilara side, this venue is reserved for adult guests only, making it ideal for couples whose guest list is primarily adults.
For couples who want a grand beach ceremony with no size limitations, the beach itself is extraordinary — soft white sand, swaying palms, turquoise water extending to the horizon. This is the venue for large weddings where the ceremony itself is the main event. The setup and décor options are extensive.
This is the venue I recommend most enthusiastically for receptions — and I've yet to have a couple regret choosing it. The rooftop terrace at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana has 360-degree views over the resort, the beach, and the Caribbean Sea that are genuinely breathtaking at sunset and into the evening. If you want the best view at this resort, this is unequivocally where you find it. Note: it requires a minimum number of guests and must be booked in advance.
Two lawn venues ideal for welcome parties, rehearsal dinners, or cocktail hours. The Waves Lawn is a gorgeous outdoor setting; the Santiago Lawn is adults-only and slightly more intimate. Both pair beautifully with a beach ceremony — you get the oceanfront vows at the gazebo and a garden-style reception at the lawn. Many couples love this combination.
The Wedding Packages
Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana offer four primary wedding packages ranging from an elopement option for two up to a full reception for large groups. "Most of our couples end up with a custom package rather than an off-the-shelf option — because once you know what you actually want for your wedding, the standard packages rarely cover everything. The on-site team is excellent at building exactly what you need. Start with the standard packages as a baseline, then customize from there."
What We Love Most About These Resorts
- The food is exceptional. Food quality is often the weakest link at all-inclusive resorts. Not here. Hyatt Ziva and Zilara consistently earn some of the strongest dining reviews in the Dominican Republic — diverse restaurants, fresh ingredients, and genuinely high-quality cuisine that won't disappoint even your most discerning guests.
- The dual-resort flexibility. Being able to accommodate families at Ziva and adults at Zilara — with everyone sharing the same beach and amenities — solves one of the most common destination wedding guest accommodation challenges we encounter.
- The on-site wedding team. The wedding coordinators at Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana are consistently excellent. They are experienced, organized, and genuinely committed to making your day extraordinary. Working with a strong on-site team makes our job as your travel specialist significantly easier — and your experience significantly better.
- The rooftop terrace. There's no equivalent reception venue in the area. If you're planning a wedding at these resorts, seriously consider the rooftop for your reception.
- Cap Cana's activities. Scape Park, Hoyo Azul cenote swimming, Punta Espada Golf, Cap Cana Marina — your guests have extraordinary things to do during the wedding week beyond the resort itself.
- The transfer logistics. 15 minutes from the airport is a genuine gift for wedding group coordination. Fewer transfer headaches means happier guests from the moment they land.
- Cultural wedding packages. Hyatt offers fully customized South Asian wedding packages — Mehndi, Sangeet, Baraat, and multi-day celebrations — with coordinators certified through the South Asian Wedding Institute. This is a genuinely rare offering at Dominican all-inclusive resorts.
Who Are These Resorts Right For?
Choose Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana if: Your guest list is a mix of families with children and adults without — the dual-resort model handles this better than any single-property resort. You want an extraordinary rooftop reception venue with views that genuinely take couples' breath away. Your guests value excellent food alongside the all-inclusive experience. You're planning a large wedding (the beach accommodates up to 600) or a mid-size wedding (50–100 guests) where the rooftop terrace is the right fit.
Consider another property if: You want an exclusively adults-only experience for everyone — in which case we'd look at a Secrets or Excellence property instead. You want a symbolic-only ceremony at a more budget-conscious price point. Your guest count is very small (under 20) and an intimate boutique property would feel more appropriate.
