Swim-Up, Swim-Out or Private Pool: What's the Difference?

  • Swim-up or swim-out: your terrace opens onto a pool, usually a channel shared with a few neighboring rooms.
  • Private plunge pool: a small pool that belongs only to your room, on a terrace or deck.
  • Semi-private: a pool shared by just a handful of suites. Ask how many before you book.

Tips for Booking a Swim-Up Room

  • Ask about sun and shade. Some swim-up channels are in shade most of the day, others in full sun. It changes the experience.
  • Check what the pool faces. A swim-up facing a walkway feels very different from one facing gardens or the sea.
  • Ask how private it is. Shared channels can connect several rooms. A private plunge pool costs more but is truly yours.
  • Book early. These rooms are a small share of most resorts and sell out first for honeymoon season.
