Sandals Curaçao: A 7-Day Honeymoon Itinerary
✦ The short answer: A week at Sandals Curaçao gives you time for two or three island outings (Willemstad, Klein Curaçao and a beach day at Mambo Beach) and plenty of slow days at the resort. Curaçao sits south of the main hurricane belt, so it works for a honeymoon almost any time of year.
Sandals Curaçao (formerly Sandals Royal Curaçao) sits on the island's southern shore, where Spanish Water Bay meets the Caribbean Sea. It's an adults-only, couples-only resort with 361 rooms, about a 40-minute drive from the airport, and it's one of the calmer Sandals resorts we send honeymooners to.
Seven nights is the right amount of time here. You can see the best of the island without rushing, and still have plenty of pool and spa time. Here's how we'd spend the week.
Your Week at Sandals Curaçao
Day 1: Ease In With the Water
After the flight, keep it simple. Take a kayak or a paddleboard out on the calm water in front of the resort, or go snorkeling. Certified divers can join a dive with the resort's PADI dive center.
Day 2: Willemstad
Curaçao's colorful capital is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and easily the island's most photographed spot. Walk across the Queen Emma Bridge between the Punda and Otrobanda neighborhoods, browse the markets, and stay for dinner. The restaurants and bars stay lively late.
Day 3: A Beach Day at Mambo Beach
Mambo Beach is about 20 minutes from the resort, with soft sand, clear water and a boardwalk of shops and cafés. Rent loungers under a palapa and do absolutely nothing.
Day 4: Klein Curaçao
This small, uninhabited island off the south coast is only reachable by boat, and most visitors never hear about it. The trip is about 90 minutes each way. You'll have time to walk the beach, snorkel and visit the old lighthouse. We can arrange it before you go.
Day 5: A Lazy Pool Day
The resort has six pools, including a multi-level infinity pool facing the sea. For more privacy, reserve a pool cabana with butler service and let someone else bring the drinks.
Day 6: A Food Day
Sandals Curaçao has a mix of restaurants and food trucks: Caribbean seafood, Asian, Italian, Spanish tapas and Latin American flavors. Between meals, there's pickleball, beach volleyball and the Red Lane Spa.
Day 7: A Night Out at the Resort
End the week with one of the resort's themed nights. With 13 bars and lounges, there's a quiet cocktail corner if you'd rather skip the dance floor.
"Curaçao surprises people. It's quieter than the big Caribbean resort areas, and Willemstad gives you a real town to explore."
