Sandals generally has more restaurants per resort — up to 16 at some properties — and the overall food quality is widely regarded as higher across the portfolio. Secrets offers excellent dining with a wide range of international cuisines across all properties. The food at the Secrets properties we personally visited — particularly Secrets Impressions Isla Mujeres — was genuinely outstanding and exceeded expectations.

One notable difference: Secrets' Preferred Club lounge access adds a meaningful private dining and drinks experience at higher room tiers. Laura particularly enjoyed the Preferred Club lounge breakfast at Secrets Tides — avocado toast and fresh coffee in a private, quiet setting was a genuine highlight of that stay.

Sandals is exceptional for destination weddings — and uniquely so. Can you earn points at Secrets Resorts?

Yes — Secrets is owned by Hyatt, so stays count toward World of Hyatt points and elite status. Sandals does not have a loyalty points program.

Which brand is better for sober travelers?

Both are genuinely welcoming for sober travelers — neither brand pressures guests to drink.
